Public Relations – Blogs

25 Feb

Hi everyone

Ok, so I hope that you all now have a good idea about blogging and how to go about setting up yours and getting posts out every week. We will have another computer lab session next term to learn a few new tricks to make your blog cooler and more functional.

The rules for blogging:

  • Your username must be similar to your actual name
  • Your blog must be food related
  • You must set up your personal profile with a picture and a little piece about who you are.
  • You can choose any theme you like, but one with a sidebar widget area is best.
  • You must have an “About” page that explains what the blog is about.
  • You must try to use the blog as a platform to promote who you are, what you are passionate about, and what your field of specialization is. People must be able to see that you know what you are talking about when it comes to food.
  • You must get your friends, family members, lecturers, colleagues, and prospective employers to join your blog to receive weekly posts.
  • You must post every week.
  • You must schedule your posts for a Wednesday at 07:30 every week
  • You must post a minimum of 400 words and a maximum of 800 per post.
  • You must do this for the rest of the semester.

If you have any questions relating to any of these, please post a comment to this post.

For the list of student blogs please go the the “BLOGS” page at the top right of the home page of this course blog. I have made a page that lists all the blogs. Please make sure that your name, username, blog name, and blog url is up there. If it is not, please let me know by commenting in the space provided.

Here is a link to the BLOGS page if you would like to go there now: https://marketmanage.wordpress.com/blogs/

    Hallo

So, I have a few comment on this morning’s post to which I responded. Problem is: I can’t change my username. It first says i can only use lower case and numbers, and when I do that it tells me the username already exists. I even asked my flatmate who is studying IT (1st year) and he couldn’t even get it right…

Ok, so if it says that the username already exists, it means that someone else in the world’s name is also Andrea Fourie and has chosen that as their usefrname before you. I suggest using your second name as well, eg: dylanhenrycromhout. Alternatively, you can add a letter like andreafourie1, or you can use your nic-name like andyfourie. Try different alternatives until you find one that has not been taken. Capish?

Who would have thought that there is more Andrea Fouries out there, right?!

Don’t REALLY want to do the nickname (not professional at all) even though I did try it and my nickname was also already in use. Ugh. But yes, capish! Thank you.

Sad but true. You might be unique, but your name isn’t… and clearly your nick name neither. Good luck in finding one that isn’t taken!

You do not have to pay to start a blog. It is free! You must choose the free version.
